Kitty Cottage Adoption Center, Inc.

Three Tabbies Adoption Policies

At Kitty Cottage we only place our cats with loving people in good, permanent homes. You must be at least 25 years old to adopt a cat from Kitty Cottage. Cats live on average 10 to 18 years. During a cat's lifetime, the cat's owner often experiences life changes, like moving, getting a roommate, dating, getting married, getting divorced, acquiring other pets, going to college, traveling, and having babies. We only adopt to people who will commit to making the adjustments necessary to keep their cat for the cat's whole life, even in the face of their lives' many challenges.

In addition, we only place our cats with people who satisfactorily complete an adoption profile form, meet with us at Kitty Cottage to talk about their profile form, give us 3 favorable references plus a veterinarian reference, and sign our adoption agreement. Kitty Cottage reserves the right to decline any adoption in our sole discretion.

Generally it takes a day or two for us to reach all your references by telephone, so we will ask you to come back a day or two after you apply to pick up your new friend.

In the event that an adopter for some reason absolutely cannot keep a cat adopted from us, and cannot find a loving home for the cat with another responsible person, we ask that the adopter return the cat to us, so that we can re-adopt it. If the return is more than 3 months from the original adoption from us, we would like to receive a surrender fee of $50.00 at that time.

what to bring on your first visit

If you are interested in adopting a cat, please bring you photo ID drivers license, the names and phone numbers of three references, and the name and phone number of the veterinarian you use. If you rent your home or apartment, please also bring your landlord's name and phone number. We need to be sure a cat will be permitted where you live. Otherwise, you might be forced by your landlord to return the cat to us.

what to bring on adoption day

For the safety of your new cat, it must go home with you and travel in your car in a cat carrier. It will also need a cat carrier in the future, for its visits to the vet and other travel. Please bring a cat carrier with you. Please bring an old towel from home to place inside the carrier.

fees

Our fee for adopting an adult cat is $80.00. We accept cash and personal checks. We require a deposit of $20.00 at the time you make your application. Our cats are already spayed and neutered, and have been vaccinated for rabies and distemper. They have also received an application of antiparasitic medication, which kills fleas, ear mites, ticks and intestinal parasites. They have been brushed, had their ears cleaned, and if they have claws, their nails have been trimmed. In addition, each cat will have received a microchip.

Kitten adoption:

Please call Kitty Cottage for kitten availability at 610-731-0101.

The adoption fees for kittens are $80.

The $80 fee covers:
- 2 distemper vaccines
- Feline Leukemia/FIV blood test
- Two dewormings
- Anti-parasitic treatment
- Each kitten will receive a microchip to help identify the cat if it is lost

The $80 fee is less than you would pay on your own for the above.

We require proof of sterilization by the time the kitten is 6 months old.  If we do not get the required proof, we have the right to take the cat back.  When you are ready to adopt your new kitten, we will go over all of the above with you prior to your signing the adoption agreement.
