Microchip ID Program

Kitty Cottage is now giving its cats permanent identification, so they can easily be returned to their adopters if they ever escape and get lost. Every cat adopted from Kitty Cottage will have a 24PetWatch non-ISO microchip implanted under its skin between its shoulder blades. The 24PetWatch non-ISO microchip can be read by the 24PetWatch Universal Scanner as well as HomeAgain, Crystal Tag and AVID readers.

A microchip is about the size of a grain of rice, and contains a unique number for each cat. We will register the number to the adopter in the 24PetWatch Pet Recovery Network, and register a second contact person chosen by the adopter, for example, a family member or neighbor.

When a lost cat ends up at a shelter or veterinary office and is scanned, the scanner will read the number and the owner or their emergency contact can be notified. If an adopter changes their address, they must notify the 24PetWatch Pet Recovery Network . Kitty Cottage will assist with the enrollment process. We have increased our adoption fee by just $10.00 to cover the cost of the microchip (for a total of an $80 adoption fee for adult cats; kitten adoptions also require an $80 adoption fee). This represents a large discount off the regular price for microchipping. We're happy we can give our adopters some peace of mind in case their cats become lost!
