Early September 2007, my fiancé was the one
to pick out Cindy out of the large crowd of
cats at the Kitty Cottage. He spied Cindy's
bright green eyes from where she was curled
up on the kitty gymnasium in the quiet room.
I swear it was love at first sight! He gave
her a couple cautionary scratches behind the
ear, and she started her purr engine right
from the get go. A very good sign. We
figured a low key adult cat would be the
best type of cat to start off with.
It
took Cindy (or Cinda; we renamed her) about
a week for her to realize that her new mom
and dad weren't going to maul and eat her.
She used our end table as her panic room of
sorts where she'd slink out and explore when
she thought no one was looking. When she
finally adjusted to life in our apartment
and with us, we were delighted to find that
she's a very affectionate cat. When my
fiancé and I try to get ready for work in
the morning, she attempts to foil our
attempts of escape by sitting on our shoes
and/or socks. She loves our laps and is
always waiting at the door when we come home
from work. She's a big fan of all things
laundry- fresh out of the dryer clothes (as
you can tell from the picture), the laundry
bag, etc. Cinda's a chatty one too. She
doesn't meow so much as chirp and trill. I
honestly don't think she has any idea what
her name is, because most of the time we
trade bird calls back and forth.
We
really couldn't ask for a better match for
our household. She's awesome! We wish the
best of luck to the rest of the furry
residents of the Kitty Cottage and to their
exceptionally nice and informative staff.
