Adopting Lily (the black and white kitty) from the Kitty Cottage was one of the best decisions my husband and I have ever made. We wanted to get a companion for our 8-year-old cat Megan (the tabby). We visited the Kitty Cottage twice in November of 2004 and decided on Lily.

Lily seemed so shy and sweet at the shelter. And she hid in our back room for about 3 weeks. But when she was ready, boy, oh, boy did she let loose. We laugh about it today that she was in the "shy" room. She is a crazy cat who loves to run around like a maniac and howl and she loves attention from other people.

At first, I was worried that Meg and Lily wouldn't get along, there was a lot of hissing and growling. But a month after that, everything seemed perfect. Now, they are the best of friends. They sleep together. Run around the house together (2-year-old Lily has brought new life into Meg) and just cause chaos together. I love to see them groom each other. Meg will put Lily in her place if she is being too rambunctious but the two never hurt each other. Lily is so sweet and nice and never scratches or bites.

We still can't pick Lily up, I fear she was abused at some point. But she lets us shower her with attention and she is just now letting me give her kisses on the nose as long as I don't scare her. She feels free to give my husband and I tons of kisses though and we love it.

We adopted Meg from a shelter 8 years ago and were told that she was an "alone" cat and she didn't like other kitties. Now I just wish I hadn't listened and gotten her a playmate sooner!

Thank you Kitty Cottage for taking care of these cats and being so kind to them. Lily's actions show that she was well taken care of by the folks who work at the Cottage!
