Toby

It's a tough life, but somebody's gotta live it.

Recently,Toby's new mom wrote and told us:

The kitty formerly known as Evan at KC.

After seeing Spencer's success story, I had to write! I'm so happy handsome Spencer found a forever home!!

I came in last January to adopt Spencer as a friend for my other orange tabby. Our first meeting went well -- despite Spencer wearing a red collar. Our second meeting, well let's just say that Spencer went for the jugular. Literally. So I wished Spencer luck in finding a new home and discovered that my friend had fallen in love with Hunter -- an adorable calico who had already been adopted. Her stubborn refusal to stop playing with Hunter led me to Evan (now Toby), who allowed me to hold him for the entire hour or so that my friend was playing with Hunter. And Toby never stopped purring.

The next day I brought my husband back and he immediately fell in love with Toby. Toby came home with us that day and has been livening up our lives ever since! He has found plenty of places to lay in our small condo -- his favorite being the bed I thought he'd never use. A year and a half later, he sleeps in it every single night, and most days! He has more toys than most children I know -- his favorites are a catnip filled duck and fur-covered mice. He also loves to wile away the hours looking out the window while sitting on his perch with his Kitty Cottage blanket! And he still purrs whenever he's eating!

While we're on vacation, he stays with my parents where his favorite place is on top of the refrigerator and even atop their 42" high cabinets. The perfect place for this little love bug to look out at the world! We wish Toby could talk so we knew what his life was like before being rescued by Kitty Cottage. All we know is he came from a pound in Philly and seems to have a penchant for Italian food and sleeping on plastic bags. Which leads us to think that in his 9 or so short months before we adopted him, he had quite a street life -- maybe in South Philly! He freaks whenever we cook spaghetti or order pizza. And if there is a bit of plastic laying around, it's a good bet that he will be sound asleep on it!

A long story, for what will hopefully be a long and happy life for Toby in his forever home! Thank you Kitty Cottage!! I only wish we had room for more little fuzzies!! (As a side note, our orange tabby went to live with my parents :(

He lived there for six months while we renovated and fell in love with their two cats. He was so depressed when he came here he hardly ate! But Toby LOVES being our one and only and still nuzzles with his half-brother when he visits!)
