About Kitty Cottage

Kitty Cottage Adoption Center, Inc. is a no-kill, cage free shelter for rescued and surrendered cats and kittens.  We’re located in Norristown and often bring in cats and kittens from the surrounding counties. Our mission is to facilitate adoptions by housing the cats in a home-like atmosphere where adopters and cats can interact freely and thus be matched up more naturally than if caged. Our environment is ideal for senior citizens and those with disabilities to enjoy the comfort and therapeutic value of being around animals.  (Wheelchair accessibility to the first floor only.)

Education also plays a big part in our mission. We emphasize the importance of spaying and neutering to the many inquisitive groups, including Boy and Girl Scouts, who visit our facility. We also offer assistance to the public with trap/neuter/return activities for feral cats.  We can rent out traps and recommend veterinarians who offer low-cost spay/neuter. Our goal is to minimize the amount of unwanted kittens born in the community. We also strive to increase the likelihood that owners will provide a lifetime of care to their cats by providing counseling on cat behaviors, behavior issues, and finding solutions that make everyone happy.

Kitty Cottage has found new homes for 3,600+ cats since our shelter opened in February 2002. There are approximately 55 cats in the shelter at any time and up to 50 kittens with volunteer foster families from our community.  We only accept new cats as room permits, and there is generally a waiting list for surrenders.

The Kitty Cottage Team consists of a few hard working employees and a whole lot of dedicated volunteers that help keep the Shelter running. We have approximately 60 hard-working volunteers who provide daily attention to the cats to socialize them and prepare them for loving homes. All of the cats are spayed and neutered, tested for FIV/FeLV, dewormed, micro-chipped and are up to date on shots.  If you’re interested in helping out in any way, please call us or stop by during visiting hours and meet the KCAC Team!
