Steve Young, President, Board of Directors
Steve Young joined the Kitty Cottage Board of Directors in 2009 as President of the Board. Steve and his wife Mary Beth, have been associated with Kitty Cottage as adopters of several cats and are long time donors. As life long cat lovers they currently have four feline friends as members of their family. Steve holds a Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of California at Berkeley and spent a career in the pharmaceutical industry where he was responsible for the discovery of two drugs to treat HIV infection and AIDS. A recently retired executive, he currently serves as a consultant to the biotechnology industry and government.
Brandon Johnson, Secretary, Board of Directors
Brandon Johnson joined the Board in 2015. He has been a volunteer at Kitty Cottage since 2014, helping with day-to-day maintenance and general upkeep of the building. He adopted a five-year resident of Kitty Cottage, Venus. Brandon has been an attorney since 1992, primarily practicing civil defense litigation, and has represented numerous Fortune 500 corporations as well as smaller businesses. Presently, Brandon concentrates his practice in the representation of business and individuals in negligence and contract cases. Brandon earned a B.S. in Computer Science from Shippensburg University in 1986 and a J.D. from Widener University School of Law in 1992. He is admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York.
Christine Antis, Board of Directors
Christine Antis joined the Kitty Cottage Board of Directors in 2015 as Board Member and Treasurer. Christine has been associated with Kitty Cottage since 2003 as an adopter of 2 older cats and holds an MBA and MS from Temple University and a BSE from The University of Michigan. With a strong background in engineering and economics, she is now a leader in R&D strategy development for a major pharmaceutical company. Christine has a long history of non-profit board leadership having positions both locally and nationally with the University of Michigan Alumni Association.
Elizabeth (Betsy) Rich, Board of Directors
Betsy Rich joined the Kitty Cottage Board of Directors in 2015. Betsy has been volunteering for Kitty Cottage shortly after the shelter first opened their doors in 2002. You can usually find her at the shelter on Sundays as an acting manager. She has raised around $30,000 over the years through the shelter’s former online auctions. She regularly attends animal conferences hosted by Best Friends Animal Sanctuary and shares the knowledge learned from these conferences with the shelter. She and her late husband Jeff were adopters of a few Kitty Cottage cat alumni themselves over the years, and she currently has a cat named Velvet. She is an Executive Assistant for Aon, an employee benefits consulting/actuarial firm, where she has worked for the past 39 years. She also volunteers as a bass clarinetist in the Chester County Concert Band (an adult community concert band) and sings in the Philly Pops Festival Chorus.
Ron Kline, Board of Directors
Ron Kline joined the Kitty Cottage Board of Directors in 2017 as a Board Member. Ron holds an MS in Engineering Science - Software from Penn State. Over the past 25 years, Ron has held various Software Engineer and Software Development Manager positions mostly in the Investment Management industry but more recently in Pharmaceutical. He has been an adopter of cats since 1996.
Kathy Purcell, Treasurer, Board of Directors
Kathy joined the Kitty Cottage board of Directors in late 2019. She has previously volunteered at Kitty Cottage and she and her husband have recently adopted 3 new lucky ones from there after the last of their kitties passed away. Kathy holds a BS and an MBA from Drexel University in Information Technology and was also an adjunct teacher at Drexel for 8 years in Systems Analysis and Design. For the past several years, Kathy has been at a major pharmaceutical company, working in Information Technology supporting Research and Development.
Clarke Garthwaite, Board of Directors
Dr. Clarke Garthwaite, VMD, joined the Kitty Cottage Board of Directors in 2019. He provides valuable insight into the veterinary care of our feline friends Dr. Garthwaite was raised on Long Island, NY before attending college at the University of Delaware. After graduating in 2011 with a degree in Animal Science and minor in Biology, he went on to the University of Pennsylvania. He earned his Veterinary degree in 2015. He currently practices in a small animal clinic outside of Philadelphia.
Kerry McIntyre, Board of Directors
Kerry joined the Kitty Cottage board of Directors in early 2020 after 4 years of volunteering as the photographer, helping maintain the website and social media and participating in fundraising efforts. Kerry has a BA in Economics as well as a BA in Art from Pennsylvania State University. Since 2015, Kerry has been running a small business as a photographer working in both the commercial and private industries in Philadelphia and beyond.
Meredyth Wolsky, Board of Directors
Meredyth Wolsky joined the board of directors in 2017. She is a long time cat lover and carer, currently with one adopted cat. She has broad experience in the pharmaceutical industry across analytics, marketing, and sales leadership as well as international business experience.
Jonathan Meyers, Board of Directors
Jonathan joined the Kitty Cottage Board of Directors in 2023 after being a long-time supporter and cat parent to a family of four cats adopted from the Kitty Cottage in 2012-2013. Jonathan has over two decades of experience in internet marketing and business development and since 2014 has been President of a marketing consulting firm serving small businesses in the greater Philadelphia area and the whole U.S.
Sarah Attardo, Board of Directors
Sarah joined the Kitty Cottage Board of Directors in 2023. Sarah is a licensed attorney in both the Canadian Province of Ontario and in the State of New York with a specialty in environmental and energy law. Always one with treats and a toe bean trimmer in hand, you can find her scurrying about tending to Kitty Cottage’s resident felines as the Saturday Acting Manager. Besides raising her own three rescue cats, Sarah is a certified cat behavioral specialist and has taken care of feral cat colonies wherever she has resided.
